OK Kings, It’s officially summer, so it’s time to unwind and relax with a much needed vacation. Take advantage of the warm weather and plan a getaway with your friends or family – but don’t fret over the details because here are some tips to make your summer vacation planning a breeze.
Research in Advance
Be sure to research your travel destination prior to your trip. Read reviews for information about accommodation to find out where the best place is for you to stay. If you’re traveling with a larger group, like your family or your buddies, an Airbnb might be a better choice to stay in instead of a hotel. Search for the best restaurants and book reservations for desired spots ahead of time – being hangry is never fun. Pre-book any attractions, tickets, or tours needed to be sure you’ll complete everything on your itinerary.
Plan Together
Whether you’re traveling with your friends or family, include everyone in the planning process as best you can. This way the trip will have something for everyone to look forward to. If you’re traveling with kids, let them choose an activity or a place to get them excited about the trip.
Pack Smart (and Light)
To avoid the hassle of trying to pack hefty suitcases in the back of a car and traveling with an abundance of luggage, pack smart and as light as possible. A hack to fit everything seamlessly in your suitcase is to utilize packing cubes. Packing cubes allow you to organize your belongings in a compact manner. Avoid overpacking clothes and shoes, and plan your wardrobe accordingly to what the activities and weather on your trip call for. If you’re headed to Disneyland, leave the uncomfortable shoes behind and stick with what’s reliable for miles of walking. Create a checklist of necessities to be sure that you’ve packed everything and aren’t leaving any items of importance behind.
Go with the Flow
As much as we want to make the most of our vacation and fill our days with exciting activities, it can be overwhelming and mentally exhausting. After all, this is a vacation – take it easy and enjoy the time with your loved ones before returning back to the real world. It’s not realistic to bombard your day with excursions; choose quality over quantity. Keeping a loose itinerary allows you to rest and recharge when needed. If you’re traveling with young kids, downtime is especially important to avoid meltdowns and tantrums. Staying flexible also allows you to go off on an impromptu adventure if an activity catches your eye. Lastly, understand that sometimes things do not go according to plan. Let go of any expectations to avoid disappointment. Life is full of mishaps; roll with the punches and don’t let the little things ruin your well-deserved vacation.
Whether you’re camping, traveling internationally, or taking a road-trip this summer, these tips will ensure a stress-free and memorable vacation.
