Greetings Kings! Last month, we talked about how to plan a stress-less/fun summer vacation – and in honor of the continuation of that message, today’s post will help you eliminate any travel anxiety you may have. When the planning is out of the way and the trip is on the books, that’s when it’s time to start packing for the fun. Here’s a list of travel essentials to help you prepare for your upcoming adventure:
Important Travel Documents
Bring passport copies for everyone in your party; this is essential in case a worst case scenario strikes. Don’t forget to scan them as well, and keep a digital copy. Hopefully, you won’t need to use the copy of your passport, but it will put your mind at ease to know you have a backup on hand. In addition, be sure to have any accommodation reservations and travel tickets. To be prepared in case of an unexpected event, bring any travel insurance and emergency contact information.
First Aid Kit
A first aid kit is essential for any destination you travel to, especially if you’re planning an outdoors trip, like camping. Pack band-aids, gauze pads, antibiotic ointment, antiseptic wipes, etc. to be prepared in case of an emergency. If you will be spending a large amount of time outside, also pack insect repellent and bug bite relief cream. Bring any prescription and over-the-counter medicine and ensure there’s enough for the duration of your trip. The last thing we want on vacation is to catch a cold; to stay healthy, travel with antibacterial wipes and hand sanitizer.
Entertainment and Comfort
Many of you know traveling with kids can be a stressful experience, and it’s hard to keep them entertained during long travel days. Prep necessary electronic devices by downloading your kids favorite games, music, movies, and shows. Don’t forget the chargers; a portable charger is great if outlets aren’t available. For other forms of entertainment, pack a book, a favorite toy, or paper and drawing utensils. If you’re traveling overnight, bring travel pillows and blankets to stay comfortable on your journey. No one wants to be uncomfortable, especially if it’s a long international flight.
Snack Pack
Keeping a snack pack on hand is essential whether you’re traveling by car or plane. Travel days can be hectic and it can be difficult to find a moment to eat when you’re trying to reach your destination. Throw in snacks that are easy to eat on the go (granola/protein bars, trail mix, cheese sticks, etc.) Be sure to pack water bottles to stay hydrated in the summer heat.
Clothes and Toiletries
Pack comfortable clothes according to the weather and activities planned; throw in a couple of dressier outfits for a fancy dinner or special event. For a poolside or beach trip, pack swimwear and towels. If it’s a shorter trip, utilize travel-sized toiletries over full-sized to save space in your suitcase.
Carry-On
The worst experience is arriving in another country with lost luggage. To track potential lost luggage, place an AirTag in your suitcase for security. For added safety, Always travel with extra clothes and your most important items in your carry-on.
Other Essentials
To stay organized on your trip, bring a plastic bag or a travel-sized laundry bag for dirty clothes or wet items. If you’re traveling for a longer period of time and have access to a washer, consider bringing a travel-sized laundry detergent. Travel guidebooks and maps for your destination will help you feel prepared. Losing valuables would be a tragedy and put a damper on your vacation; place your money and prized possessions in a travel safe. Lastly, carry a spacious travel backpack to keep all of your belongings while you’re out and about.
Whether you’re solo tripping, traveling with friends or family, we’ve got you covered with this list of essentials. Double-check your belongings and have safe travels this summer, kings.
