Continuing on with our ultimate summer vacation guide, we have a part three for you kings to have the best time. When the prepping, planning, and packing is out of the way, it’s time to reap the rewards of your hard work and fully enter relaxation mode. With all of the efforts it took to make this trip happen, you’ll want to remember this time forever and encapsulate it in your mind. Here’s a few tips on how to create unforgettable memories on your travels:
Capture Moments
It sounds simple, but take pictures and videos to document your trip. You might forget a detail about your trip, like your favorite restaurant you ate at there, and looking back on a visual reminder can help jog your memory. A digital camera is a great way to capture moments while taking time away from your phone.
Immerse Yourself
If you’re traveling internationally, immerse yourself in the country’s culture. Every culture is different; from what they eat, what they wear, and what they do. Open up your mind and appreciate the different culture. Try learning a little bit of the language before you arrive. Challenge yourself and try to order dinner one night in their language; whether it goes good or bad, you’ll have the memory of it.
Step Out of Your Comfort Zone
When we’re at home, we have a routine we follow and tend to stick to what we know. Take advantage of being away from your everyday life and step out of your comfort zone. Make it a challenge to try something new everyday of your trip, whether it’s trying a new food or engaging in an activity you’ve never done before, take a chance on it. You never know, you could find your new favorite food. Even if you don’t end up liking it, at least you can say that you tried and walk away with a new experience under your belt.
Create a Travel Journal
Creating a travel journal is a great way to document exactly how you were feeling and what you did each day of the trip. Take a few minutes every night before you go to bed to write down your thoughts. When you return home from your trip, you can print out the pictures you took and add them to your journal. Keep any important tickets or mementos for your journal. Journaling allows for self-reflection and enhances your memory recall.
Do Not Disturb
When we’re on vacation, we want to share the excitement we feel with others and share every little thing online. Remember, social media will be there when you get back from your trip. Turn on do not disturb and unplug from your phone for a while. You can always share your favorite moments from your trip at the airport when you’re headed home. You can respond to that text when you’re in your hotel bed at the end of the night. A break from technology allows you to be fully aware of your surroundings and focused on what’s in front of you. Rather than scrolling on your phone at dinner, engage in meaningful conversation with those you’re traveling with and reflect on your day.
Souvenirs
Bringing home a souvenir is a physical reminder of your vacation. There’s always a plethora of souvenirs to choose from in the stores. Whatever you decide to bring home with you, make sure that it’s something you will cherish for years to come and reflects your time away. If you’re going to multiple destinations, a fun idea is grabbing a postcard from each city (you can keep it in your travel journal.)
Stay present and live in the moment. Work and other responsibilities will be there when you return from your trip. Appreciate where you are at and feel grateful for the experiences. You will never get this day back; take it in and savor it.
